Question

Prohibited prayer times (awqāt al-nahy)

Five windows matter. Three are strict, tied to the sun itself: sunrise (from the sun's first appearance until it has fully risen, conventionally about twenty minutes), the zenith (the few minutes the sun stands at its highest, until zawāl passes), and sunset (from the sun's yellowing, isfirār, until Maghrib). Two are extended: after the entry of Fajr and after Asr, in which voluntary prayer is withheld but obligatory, missed, and funeral prayers have their own rulings depending on the school. These windows move every day with the sun, which is why a fixed timetable cannot answer "can I pray right now" - the tool below computes them astronomically for your coordinates.

Rulings differ by madhhab and by what you intend to pray - the live answer below is conditioned on both. Draft pending scholar verification; see the methodology.

Can I pray now?
